Hackensack

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced a Hackensack man accused of seriously injuring a 64-year-old female pedestrian in a Beech Street crash.

Today, Thomas Deviner, 31, of Hackensack, was charged with fourth-degree causing a serious injury while driving without a license. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, driving while unlicensed, failure to yield to a pedestrian and driving without insurance, Molinelli said.

Deviner was driving eastbound on Beech Street at 8:55 a.m. Thursday when he struck Virginia Baez, of Hackensack, with a 2014 Nissan Altima.

Baez was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with a head injury.

Deviner, who was driving with a suspended license, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Deviner is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. in Hackensack Municipal Court.
