According to Hudson County officials, on Friday, January 17, Superior Court Judge Patrick Arre sentenced 65-year-old Oscar Castaneda of Guttenberg to 60 years in prison in New Jersey State Prison on multiple charges related to the sexual assault of two minor female victims.

Castaneda will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence without the opportunity for parole subject to the No Early Release Act. Megan’s Law registration and Parole Supervision for Life were also imposed at the time of the sentencing.

The defendant was sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison for the Aggravated Sexual Assault of the first victim to run consecutive to a 45-year sentence for the Aggravated Sexual Assault of the second victim.

Castaneda faced a longer sentence for the Aggravated Sexual Assault of the second victim since the acts occurred after the enactment of the Jessica Lunsford Act.

Castaneda was also sentenced on the other charges for which he was found guilty, all to run concurrent.

Officials say on September 13, 2019, Castaneda was found guilty by a Hudson County jury of four counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault, two counts of Sexual Assault, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of Terroristic Threats, and one count of Simple Assault.
