Gunshot Victim Walks Into Elizabeth Hospital, Claims Shooting Happened in Newark

Authorities in two cities are investigating after a gunshot victim showed up at an Elizabeth hospital late Saturday night and told police he was shot in Newark.

According to preliminary reports, officials at Trinitas Regional Medical Center notified police just before 11 p.m. when an unidentified male entered the emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound.

 

When Elizabeth officers arrived, the victim told investigators he had been struck by gunfire on Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark’s South Ward. 

 

Newark Police were contacted and responded to the hospital to interview the man.

 

As of early Sunday morning, police had not confirmed the exact location of the shooting. 

 

The victim’s condition was not immediately released, and no arrests have been reported.

 

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
