Authorities in Trenton are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man critically injured and undergoing emergency surgery, according to preliminary information.

Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officials at Capital Health Regional Medical Center alerted police after an unidentified male arrived at the emergency room suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was immediately taken into surgery and remains in critical condition.
Police responded to the hospital and quickly determined that the shooting occurred near Hoffman Avenue and Eisenhower Avenue.
Officers responding to the scene recovered shell casings and gathered initial witness reports indicating that a Black male wearing dark clothing fled the area immediately after the gunfire.
The suspect remains at large, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under active investigation.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and is assisting with the case.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
