Police in Paterson are on the search for a suspect who fired a weapon in the city that injured a person Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 20 s block of Belle Avenue around 3:35 a.m.
Police arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a bullet wound in the chest.
EMS transported the injured to St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment while police began a search for a suspect who fled the scene in a light-colored vehicle with tinted windows.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
