Police are investigating a shooting incident involving a male transporting himself to Newark's hospital on Saturday.
Officials at University Hospital notified Newark Police when a gunshot victim entered the emergency room suffering a bullet wound around 2:20 p.m.
At around 11:10 a.m., police responded to multiple calls reporting shots fired near 727 South 12th Street.
When officers arrived, they found shell casings on the ground, but no victims were located after police searched the neighborhood.
Police are trying to determine if the victim was injured in the 12th Street shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
