A Newark male walked into University Hospitals early Monday evening after suffering a gunshot wound, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, officials at the hospital contacted police when the male victim entered the emergency room seeking help after being shot sometime before 5:45 p.m.
While police have not confirmed the location that the victim suffering his injuries, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation that alert police of nearly a dozen rounds in the vicinity of 47 Boyd Street.
The victim's injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
