A shooting response team was called to the scene of a shooting in Newark’s South Ward this afternoon.
Police checked hospitals in the region for potential gunshot victims after shooters arrived in the area of Wainwright Street and Nye Avenue and began firing multiple rounds.
Officers arrived at the scene and found shell casings, but a search of the area indicated no victims.
The suspects fled the scene and are at large.
It is not clear who the suspects’ targets were at this time.
