Residents in a neighborhood in Newark's North Ward were awakened to repeated sounds of gunfire early Monday morning.
Police say at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Summer Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired at that location.
Units arrived and closed a portion of Summer Avenue after officers found bullets through the walls and windows of 553 Summer Avenue.
Police searched the residents and confirmed that no one inside suffered injuries, officials said.
Authorities said witnesses believe that a red Honda Civic occupied by several suspects fired multiple rounds into the house then sped away from the scene.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
