Gunman Shoots Juvenile in the Face in Newark's North Ward

Police in Newark are searching for suspects wanted for a shooting that sent a male to the hospital Saturday night. 

According to police, the violent encountered happened  just before 7 p.m. in the 300 block of Woodside Avenue. 

Officers responded to reports of shots fired and when the units arrived at the scene, they found a juvenile -around the age of 17-  bleeding from his mouth at that location. 

Police say the victim was in the area when suspects occupying a vehicle with tinted windows pulled up and the rear passenger produced a weapon and began firing in the direction of the victim. 

A bullet struck the victim's chin then reportedly went through his mouth. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment and there were no immediate reports of a fatality. 

Police say the unoccupied vehicle was located in the 100 block of William Street in Belleville  around 10 p.m. 

The motive for the attack is under investigation.
