Gunmen Fires Multiple Shots at Vehicle in Newark's West Ward

Newark

Police in Newark are on the search for suspects wanted for firing multiple shots at a vehicle in Newark's upper West Ward on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a ShotSpotter device detected over a half-dozen rounds of gunfire near 109 Alexander Street just before 2:50 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were found after they searched the neighborhood.

While officers taped off the area and investigated the shooting, they received information of a bullet-riddled vehicle on the other side of the city in the teens block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Police believe the driver sped away from the area when shooters began unloading multiple rounds at the vehicle.

There were no injuries reported and the incident remains under investigation.
