A gunman fired about a half dozen rounds in the direction of a man at a location in Newark's North Ward on Sunday night.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 170 Riverside Court just before 11:45 p.m. where officers arrived and found a male victim struck by a bullet at that location.
Police taped off the area to begin their investigation while EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the victim's non-life threatening gunshot wound in his leg.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
