Police in Newark are investigating an early morning shooting that injured a man in Newark's East Ward Sunday.
A ShotSpotter device activated in the vicinity of 9 Horatio Court, prompting a police investigation just before 4 a.m.
Units arrived and found the victim near 6 Horatio Court suffering a bullet wound in his stomach at that location.
When police arrived at the scene, they were informed that two males were heard in a heated argument just before gunfire rang out in that neighborhood.
The suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim.
The victim's condition has not been reported as life-threatening as of 4:25 a.m. EMS transported the injured to University Hospital for treatment.
The suspect left the scene and is at large.
