Gunman Fires Nearly a Dozen Rounds on Street in Orange

Orange

There were no injuries reported in a shots fired incident that occurred on a street in Orange during the overnight hours.

As violent crimes in the city are continuing to tumble compared to last 2016 and 2017, Wednesday night's incident is under investigation by Orange Police as they search for the suspect responsible for the shooting.

According to preliminary reports, several residents dialed 911 after they heard nearly a dozen popping noises that resemble shots fired 300 block of Elizabeth Street just before 11:55 p.m.

Fast responding Orange Police officers arrived at the scene and immediately secured the area before searching the vicinity for possible suspects and victims.

A search of the area indicated no victims, but detectives marked off just under ten shell casings at that location.

Police canvassed the city for a dark-colored vehicle -possibly a Jeep Cherokee- occupied by suspects armed with guns.

According to residents, the suspects began to fire at an unknown target before speeding away from the scene westbound on Elizabeth Street.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
