Newark East Ward authorities are on the search for a suspect who fired a shot at a Newark housing project that struck a man in the back on Sunday night.
Police say the incident happened just before 9:40 p.m., at the Pennington Court Housing Development, where police responded to several 911 calls reporting shots fired,
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male suffering a bullet wound in his back.
According to officials, the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
Officers closed off Pennington and Dawson streets for the investigation.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
