Gunfire Strikes One in Newark's Upper West Ward

Authorities in Newark's Upper West ward are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday night, leaving a male victim injured by gunfire.AdThe situation unfolded when a ShotSpotter device detected multiple rounds of gunfire in the vicinity of South Orange Avenue and St. Paul.

Units arrived and discovered evidence indicating a shooting had taken place, although no victims were initially found after a thorough search of the area.

However, detectives later learned that a male victim had independently sought medical attention at a nearby medical center, where he was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds.

Fortunately, his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening at this time.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Authorities continue their efforts to gather information and bring those responsible to justice.
