Newark Major Crimes Shooting Team was on the scene of a shots-fired incident that injured a male victim in the city's West Ward Thursday evening.
It happened near 145 South 10th Street Central Avenue around 3:52 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of shots fired with someone down at that location.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Random gunfire violence in that section of Newark is no surprise due to out-of-control drug distribution and trafficking.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
