A male victim suffering injuries after being shot in Newark late last night was rushed to University Hospital.
The conscious and alert victim was found in the 100 block of South 8th Street shortly before 11 p.m. when police responded to reports of shots fired with a person down at that location.
Arriving emergency responders found the victim struck to the abdomen according to initial reports from the scene.
Police setup a crime scene in the area where after a thorough search, officers found a vehicle also struck by gunfire.
The extent of the victim's injury has only been reported as serious as of 4:30 a.m.
A motive for the shooting has not been immediately reported nor has an arrest been made at this time.
Newark Police are investigating.
