A shooting that occurred in Newark's South Ward overnight has police investigating.
Reports of shots fired in the 200 block of Renner Avenue had police on the scene at around midnight where a blood trail had officers canvassing the area in search of the victim.
Authorities were notified by officials at the Beth Israel Hospital that male suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks had entered the emergency department shortly after the shots fired call on Renner Avenue.
Police set up a crime scene in the area where they launched the investigation into the motive behind the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
