There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that injured a male overnight in Elizabeth.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Third Street & Port Avenue shortly before 11 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.
EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where his injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
Officers secured the scene and began an investigation into the motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
