EMS rushed a male victim to University Hospital in Newark after they found him shot in a neighborhood in East Orange this evening.
Reports of shots fired sent several police units to the 100 block of South Harrison Avenue near Central Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. where officers found the victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks according to reports.
Police set up a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.
The motive for the shooting is under investigating.
The Essex County Sherriff's Department is assisting with the investigation.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
