A shooting that happened this afternoon in Newark's West Ward has police investigating.
Police responded to several reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Mount Vernon Place and Kerrigan Boulevard at approximately 1:45 p.m.
Units arriving to the scene located multiple vehicles and a house struck by bullets at that location.
A preliminary investigation indicated that two vehicles carrying several occupants drove through the area and began to exchange rounds of gunfire at each other.
One of the vehicles is believed to be a grey Nissan Altima that sped away from the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
