There are non-life threatening injuries reported for 17-year-old female struck by gunfire at a housing complex in Elizabeth.
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Carteret Street and Maple Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. had police on the scene where they found a 17-year-old female victim struck to the leg by gunfire as she allegedly played cards in the courtyard , according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to the hospital where she is expected to survive her injury.
Police searched the courtyard area near the basketball courts for evidence.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no immediate reports of arrests made.
