Gunfire rang out this afternoon on a block in Elizabeth striking and injuring a 12-year-old boy inside his friend's Elizabeth home.
Police responded to the 1000 block of Magnolia Avenue shortly after 4PM this afternoon for reports of two groups firing shots in the area according to Elizabeth Police Capt. Mooney.
When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered that several bullets struck and penetrated a home on the block, injuring a 12-year boy.
Several shell casings were recovered just outside the home.
The unidentified boy was taken to University hospital in Newark with what the captain describes as non-life threatening injuries.
