Multiple rounds of gunfire that erupted in a residential area of Newark late last night has police investigating.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 300 block of Bergen Street shortly before 10 p.m.
A female resident immediately contacted police when an object penetrated the rear of her residence and landed on her kitchen floor just steps from where she was reportedly doing some cleaning for the evening according to the resident.
Cops arrived to the scene where they identified the object as a bullet that was laying on the kitchen floor of the residence according to reports.
A thorough search for the area had authorities locate several shell casings in the area around the house, but there were no injuries immediately reported.
In a separate incident, gunfire erupted in the 100 block of South 11th Street at around 4:45 a.m. sending police to the scene where they located a vehicle struck by gunfire. Police located several shell casings at the scene, but no injuries were immediately reported.
