A shooting in Newark's North Ward has police in the 500 block of Broadway investigating at this time.
Gunfire erupted at around 1:30 p.m. sending multiple police units to the scene.
One person was self-transported to University Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound according to hospital officials.
There is possibly a second victim at the scene but this has not been confirmed at this time.
Please avoid the area for the police investigation.
In a second possibly unrelated incident that occurred in the city's South Ward at around 3 a.m., a man checked into University Hospital suffering injury from gunfire. Police setup a crime scene in the area of Johnson Ave. and MIlford Street. The 21-year-old man was released from the hospital several hospitals later.
