The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the motive into a shooting that left one person dead and another victim injured on a street in Paterson on Sunday morning.
According to authorities, multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 42 Ellison Street at approximately 1:25 a.m., placing officers at the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found a severely injured unconscious and unresponsive person suffering gunshot wounds at that location. Medical staff pronounced the unidentified victim dead at the scene, according to police.
Police officers found a second victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound during their canvas of the area. The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment and remains in stable condition.
The investigation remains active, ongoing and the suspect remains at-large.
