Authorities from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a shooting that left one person overnight in the city's South Ward.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired near 814 Clinton Avenue where they reportedly located the male victim suffering a gunshot wound.
The unidentified victim was later pronounced dead according to authorities.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
There is an active investigation underway.
