An investigation is underway into a shooting that left a woman injured in Newark.
Reports of shots fired that erupted in the 400 block of South 17th Street sent police and EMS to the scene where a woman was struck by gunfire.
EMS rushed to woman to University Hospital reportedly suffering a gunshot wound to the side. The woman was reported to be around the age od 22-years-old. Her injuries were considered serious.
The shooting unofficially ends a full week dry spell of individuals injured by gunfire in the city.
The investigation is being conducted by the Newark Police Department.
