Gunfire Injures Three in Paterson

Report of shots fired that rang out in a neighborhood in the city left at least three people injured.

Cops responded to the 700 block of East 39th Street shortly before 5 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls of a shooting with possible injuries.

Units arrived to the scene to find three people suffering various injuries from gunfire.

The victims were rushed to St. Josephs Hospital where their injuries were not immediately reported to be life threatening. A possible fourth person was transported to the hospital by private vehicle suffering a gunshot wound.

A dark colored Acura TL was seen fleeing the area immediately after the shooting. Police located the unoccupied vehicle on North 3rd Street.

In a possible separate incident on North 3rd, a female police officer fired a shot at a fleeing suspect that reportedly dragged her with his vehicle on North 3rd Street at around 6 a.m.

The suspect managed to make a get away but it is not immediately known if the man was struck by gunfire.

The officer did not suffer serious injuries.

An investigation is underway by Paterson Police.
