A shooting that sent one person to the hospital overnight in Newark has authorities searching for the suspect responsible for the incident.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Avon Avenue and South 11th Street just before 9:30 p.m. where upon their arrival at the scene, they observed a male victim struck by gunfire at that location.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated him for his injury.
There were no immediate reports of life-threatening injuries.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
