Newark Police are investigating a shooting that sent a male victim to the hospital this morning in the city.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out on South 11th Street between 11th and 12th avenues shortly before noon where several units arrived at the scene to find evidence that shooting had occurred but no victim.
Police canvassing the area reportedly found the victim a short distance away suffering a gunshot injury.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where his injuries were not immediately reported as life threatening.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
