Gunfire Erupts Twice in a Week at Newark Gas Station

Newark authorities are investigating shootings that occurred twice this week at a gas station in Newark's North Ward.

Police have stepped up patrol around the area of the BP Gas Station that's located in the 60's block of Bloomfield Avenue after suspects, on two occasions this week, fired shots on the premises reports said.

The first incident happened on the evening of Halloween (Monday) where cops were called to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired at that location.

First responding units immediately secured the scene and located an employee who reported to them that a male suspect attempted to conduct an armed robbery then blasted off gunshots upon fleeing the scene.

There were no physical injuries reported.

On Friday morning, reports of shots fired sent police to the BP Gas Station where cops arrived to find a vehicle struck by gunfire and several shell casings on the ground according to reports.

Police setup a crime scene where they launched an investigation.

There were no injuries immediately reported.

Newark Police are actively investigating a motive behind the Friday morning shooting.

There were no reports of arrests made.
