One person was taken by ambulance to the hospital after police responded to a shooting in a section of Newark Monday evening.
Residents in the area of South 19th Street ad 15th Aenue notified police after they heard multiple gunshot rounds erupt in the community around 6:17 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found nearly a dozen shell casings on the ground, but the suspect fled immediately after firing the weapon.
The condition of the male victim has not been updated at this time. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office released no homicide investigation.
Newark Police officials are investigating.
