Police in Newark are investigating another shots-fired incident reported early Sunday.
Authorities said the latest gunfire was reported just after 4:10 a.m. in the area of 448 South 10th Street, where residents called in multiple rounds being fired.
ShotSpotter technology had already alerted officers to the incident as units were responding to the neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they secured the scene and located several shell casings on the street.
A further search revealed a parked vehicle that had been struck by bullets.
The car was unoccupied and no injuries were immediately reported.
The suspect fled the area before police arrived and remains at large. No additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
Correction: A previous RLS Media report stated that five shootings had occurred since Christmas Day. This was incorrect.
Three incidents took place on Christmas Day, and a fourth shots-fired incident occurred on December 28. No injuries were immediately reported in any of the incidents.
