A barrage of bullets littering several neighborhoods in Newark's upper West Ward has police on the search for the suspect/s that it responsible for the shootings.
Police responded to the first call of shots fired that occurred on the 100 block of Brookdale Ave. around 4:30 AM and found a person shot in the leg. The victim was taken to University Hospital and was expected to survive.
A short time later, police received reports that shots rang out on the 100 block of Dover Street where they arrived to find one person reportedly shot in the arm at that location. A person in a house at that location was reportedly injured by flying glass and wood fragments after bullets pierced through the house. Both of the injured are expected to survive.
Authorities raced to the 100 block of Smith Street shortly before 5AM, where a house at that location was struck by bullets. One person was reportedly injured in an apartment when a bullet reportedly connected with a piece of wood that struck the victim. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries.
It is not clear if the shootings are connected at this time.
Police are investigating the motive for the shootings.
