Gunfire Erupts in Newark's South Ward Causing Injuries

There were minor injuries reported in a shooting that erupted early this morning in the city's South Ward.

Newark Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Avon Avenue at around 3 a.m.

Arriving units located two people reportedly suffering minor graze wounds to the legs according to reports.

The victims were transported to University Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation by the Newark Police Department.

There were no immediate reports of arrests.
