Police in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in a South Ward neighborhood overnight.
According to preliminary reports, gunmen fired off multiple rounds at an unknown target on Vassar Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting had occurred but a search of the area did not indicate any victims according to police.
Officers collected a little less than a half dozen shell casings at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported.
