An earlier shooting in Newark’s Central Ward is under investigation by police.
Police said gunfire rang out on the 18th Avenue side of Nat Turner Park near Hunterdon Street shortly before 5:05 p.m.
Police located shell casings while searching the area, but no victims were found.
According to police, a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted the officer of the shooting.
The suspects fled the scene and is at large.
