Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who fired a gun on a street in Newark's West Ward on Friday evening.
Gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 14th Avenue and South 13th Street shortly before 5:25 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found evidence that a shooting occurred but after they checked the area, officers did not locate an injured person.
Police located a person who was believed to be the possible target of the shooting in the 400 block of South 12th Street, but the person was not struck by gunfire according to reports.
Major Crimes units arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
