Gunfire Erupts in Newark West Ward Neighborhood
Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that erupted in a neighborhood in Newark's West Ward this afternoon.
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the teens block of West End Avenue at around 4 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found multiple shell casings, but officers did not find any injured victims.
Police searched several hospitals of possible victims with none of the facilities reporting walk-in victims.
In an overnight shooting that occurred in the city's West Ward, gunfire erupted in the 80's block of Norwood Street sending police to the scene before 11 p.m. where a search of the area had officers locating shell casings according to reports.
Three black male suspects were observed fleeing from the scene in a blue vehicle. There were no injuries reported.
The motive for the shootings are under investigation.
