Gunfire Erupts on Newark Street for the Second Time in 24-hours

Newark

Newark Police are investigating an incident of shots fired that rang out on a Newark street Friday night.

Gunmen arrived in the 200 block of 6th Avenue, at around 8:20 p.m., and unloaded nearly a dozen rounds of bullets in the area then ran from the scene.

Fast responding police officers flooded the area where they searched for evidence and possible injured victims.

Police found a vehicle struck by bullets, but there were no injured victims located at the crime scene.

Authorities are trying to determine if the gunmen are the same suspects wanted for a shooting that occurred in the same neighborhood on Thursday night at approximately 7:05 p.m.

The suspects -two black males, both armed with guns- remain at-large.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
