An early morning shooting that happened in Newark's South Ward is under investigation.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 200 block of Renner Avenue shortly before 1 a.m.
Several residents dialed 911 after they said they heard about a half dozen rounds of gunfire in the vicinity of their residences according to reports.
Units arriving at the scene located evidence that a shooting had occurred, but officers did not find any injured victims.
Authorities found at least one vehicle struck by gunfire at that location.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation
