Jersey City Police are investigating a shooting that sent a male to the hospital suffering serious injuries overnight.
Gunfire erupted in the vicinity of Brinkerhoff Street and Monticello Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. sending police to the scene where they arrived to find an adult male victim suffering apparent gunshot wounds to the abdomen and wrist according to preliminary reports.
EMS transported the victim to Jersey City medical center where doctors treated him for his injury.
Police at the scene began to check the area for shell casings and other evidence to assist with the investigation.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
