Police are investigating a late night shooting in Newark that sent at least two people to the hospital.
Reports of shots fired rushed police to the 400 block of South 18th Street at around 11:15 p.m.
Arriving units located two people suffering various injuries at that location. One of the victims suffered a non-life threatening gunshot graze to the head while the other victim suffered a broken leg from attempting to flee the scene but was not believed to have been struck by gunfire.
Multiple shell casings were found at several locations on the West Ward block according to reports.
In a separate shooting that happened at around the same time as the 18th Street shooting, several rounds of gunfire rang out in the area of Parkhurst and Sherman Ave. sending police to that location where shell casings were found. It is not immediately known if a victim was injured.
Newark Police are investigating both incidents.
