Gun Found at the Scene of Overnight Newark Shooting

A gun was found at the scene of a South Ward shooting that sent two men to the hospital late last night Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.

Gunfire erupted in the 70's block of Aldine Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where officers found a victim shot at that location.

The victim was transported University Hospital in Newark where he is reported to be in stable condition according to authorities.

A male victim suffering injury from gunfire (who walked into Newark's Beth Israel Hospital a short time late) had hospital officials contact authorities. His injuries were reported to be non-fatal authorities said.

A search of the shooting scene had officers locate a gun that was used in the incident and is believed to belong to one of the victims Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.

An investigation has been launched to find a motive for the shooting.

There were no immediate reports of arrests.
