Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the extradition of Homer Rhone Bishop, 41, from Jamaica.
Bishop was returned to Bergen County on Tuesday by the United States Marshal’s Service and turned over to the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
Bishop has been a fugitive since 2007 when he failed to appear for sentencing in Bergen County Superior Court after having pled guilty to first degree aggravated sexual assault.
The recent arrest of Bishop is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Marshal’s Service and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs which was involved in the approval and submission of the warrant for extradition to Jamaican authorities.
