Four Injured in Newark South Ward Shooting

A shooting that sent several people to the hospital in Newark while you slept, has police investigating.

The early morning shooting happened before 3:35 a.m. in the South Ward community of Fabyan Place near Beverly Street where officers scrambled to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired and victims down at that location.

Upon officers arrival, they found three victims suffering serious to life-threatening injuries and a fourth victim suffering a non-life threatening graze wound according to authorities.

All of the victims were transported to the hospital where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.

Police setup a crime scene in the area where they found just over a dozen shell casings on Fabyan Place and a house struck by bullets.

The investigation is underway to determine the motive for the shooting.

There are no reports of arrests at this time.
