A hit-and-run incident that severely injured a 75-year-old Paterson resident has led to the arrest of Tae Lee, 60, of Fort Lee resident.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, around 4:40 a.m. at the junction of Industrial Avenue and U.S. Route 46 in Teterboro.

After receiving a 911 call, Moonachie Police responded to the scene where the elderly victim was found.

He was immediately rushed to Hackensack University Hospital due to serious injuries.

Upon investigating the accident, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Moonachie Police Department determined that an SUV, driven by Lee, had struck the pedestrian.

Lee reportedly fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

Following the investigations, Lee faces charges of third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury.

He also received summonses for leaving and failing to report the accident.

However, Lee has been released on his own recognizance and awaits his initial court appearance in Hackensack's Central Judicial Processing Court.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella emphasized that these charges are accusations, and Lee remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
