Former NJ Priest Accused of Sexual Misconduct Found Dead in Nevada

A former priest accused of sex crimes against minors was found dead inside in his Nevada home Saturday.

Officials say, cops Saturday responded to Bonner Springs Drive home in Henderson shortly after 5 p.m. to conduct a welfare check.

Upon arrival, police found John Capparelli on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound on his neck.

According to Nevada police, the death is being investigated as a homicide after a preliminary investigation revealed that Capparelli died of suspicious circumstances.

Capparelli, who worked as a public school teacher in Newark, Our Lady of Fatima in North Bergen, Oratory Prep in Summit, Holy Trinity in Westfield, St. Theresa in Kenilworth and Temporary Chaplain - Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, was among the 188 priests and deacons accused of sexual abuse of minors.
